I recently saw Neil Jordan's debut film, the 80s classic Mona Lisa. The premise is about a down and out ex prison convict ( Bob Hoskins) who becomes a chauffeur for a bi racial high class prostitute (Cathy Tyson). Jordan who is also known for directing The Crying Game, illustrates how at first a bitter relationship between this couple then transforms into a co-dependant, highly emotional union. What's most important about this film is what Tyson is wearing- slick leather suits, an oversized wool coat with revealing lingerie underneath, silk stockings, garter belts, stiletto heels and a classic black Chanel 2.55 handbag. She is never seen without a traveling vanity case that contains the necessary tools for her nocturnal profession. Here are a few frames.
